Terver Akase, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Wednesday resigned his appointment to contest Governorship election to succeed his Boss.
Briefing Newsmen in his office at Government House Makurdi, Akase explained that his decision was in line with the Governor’s directive that all his appointees willing to contest 2023 elections shouId resign their positions by October 1st, 2021 in order to create room for those who will serve the state with focus.
The outgoing Chief Press said he had handed over in the early hours of today to his subordinate in office, Mr Nathaniel Ikyur who until his appointment as Ortom’s CPS was Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Media.
Akase who promised to support his successor to discharge his duties effectively urged Journalists to extend the same support he enjoyed from them to Mr Ikyur, nothing that Governor Ortom remained his Boss and Benue project was paramount.
In a related development, members of the Independent Print Publishers Association of Nigeria, IPPAN, under the leadership of Comrade Babs Usigbe presented Certificate of Commendation/appreciation to Mr Akase in recognition of his support and commitment of service to their Patron, Governor Samuel Ortom.
I wish Akase the best of Luck as he embarks on the journey to becoming Benue Governor in 2023.
