Former Benue State Police Commissioner, Julius Okoro Alawari, has taken the reins as Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) for Zone 4, covering Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau states.

With his extensive experience in the region, AIG Alawari in a recent interaction with journalists in his office, pledged to restore peace and security.

“I know the terrain, I know the problems, and I know the solutions. My goal is to ensure residents can sleep with both eyes closed, free from fear”, he assured.

AIG Alawari who called for community cooperation emphasized that security is a collective responsibility, saying his supervisory role will focus on guiding commissioners in the three states to achieve lasting peace.

With his expertise and determination, Benue and its neighbors can look forward to a safer future.

“I was commissioner of police, Benue State command here early last year. Things were going on very fine before I was moved to Plateau State I think about four months ago in exchange with the CP from Plateau State who came here. I was in Plateau State about seven months when I got my promotion from CP to AIG and I was moved to Bauchi, zone 12 zonal command which is made up of Bauchi and Gombe States and this place has been vacant and there was a kind of postings at the top among the AIGs and with the good discretion of the Nigerian Police authorities, they moved me down to zone 4 here, knowing that it is a familiar terrain for the fact that I worked in Benue earlier as CP and I also worked in Plateau as CP.

“So, coming as AIG, much is expected of me. I assure you that we are going to do our best because Benue State is a familiar terrain. We have worked here, we know the problem of the state and we know how to proffer solutions to the problems of the state.

“My job is majorly supervisory, supervising all the commissioners of police in the states; Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa. It is my responsibility to put them in the right track and where it is necessary for us to augment, we will do so. We will not relent in our efforts, we must make sure that Benue state remains peaceful”, AIG Alawari said.
