“Basco Returns”: Hon. Babafemi Adewale Declares for Ikeja LG Chairmanship with Renewed Vision and Grassroots Passion
Hon. Babafemi Adewale, fondly known as Basco, has officially declared his intention to contest once again for the Chairmanship of Ikeja Local Government under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reigniting a vision of transformative leadership and people-centered governance.
A respected legal expert, public servant, and business executive, Hon. Adewale brings over two decades of diverse experience across Nigeria and the Republic of Ireland. With a strong foundation in law, finance, ICT, and grassroots mobilization, he remains one of the most versatile and prepared candidates in Lagos State’s political landscape.
Academic & Professional Excellence
A proud native of Lagos State, Hon. Adewale holds:
• A Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Law from Dublin Institute of Technology,
• A Degree in Business Information Systems from Dublin Business School,
• An HND in Banking & Finance from Federal Polytechnic, Offa,
• An OND in Accountancy from Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa.
In addition to his academic qualifications, he is a Microsoft Certified Professional in Networking, with certifications in Cloud Technology and IT Service Management.
His professional journey began at the National Assembly, Abuja, during his NYSC year, serving as Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee—a role he held until 2004. His international career in Ireland enriched his global outlook before he returned to Nigeria to lead Yekinfat Investment Ltd as Director, focusing on local investment and community impact projects.
A Passion Reignited: Basco Returns
In 2017, Hon. Adewale first stepped forward with passion and purpose to contest for the Ikeja LG Chairmanship. Though he was persuaded by party leaders to step aside with the assurance of future endorsement, his commitment to the people never waned.
“This is not just a return,” Hon. Adewale affirms.
“It is a reaffirmation of my commitment to serve with integrity and deliver purposeful governance that truly touches lives.”
Now, eight years later, Basco returns to reclaim the mandate once promised to him renewed, reenergized, and more determined than ever.
Leadership Rooted in the People
Since his last political bid, Hon. Adewale has stayed deeply engaged with the Ikeja community. From mentoring youth to advancing women empowerment and community development, his actions reflect a servant-leader mindset.
“The voices of the youth, the aspirations of our elders, and the resilience of hardworking families have fueled my journey,” he says.
“Weeks have returned, and with them, a stronger Basco better prepared and fully ready to reclaim the people’s mandate.”
Civic and Political Engagement
In 2019, Hon. Adewale played a strategic role in the BOS Independent Campaign Group and served as a Returning Officer during the governorship elections in Ikeja. Currently, he serves as a State Executive Official in Lagos APC, championing:
- Inclusive governance
• Tech-driven public service
• Youth & women empowerment
• Community infrastructure development
Beyond politics, he runs impactful educational outreach, ICT training for youths, and grassroots empowerment programs, further solidifying his reputation as a visionary with action.
A New Chapter for Ikeja
As the 2025 local government elections draw closer, all eyes are on Ikeja where Basco’s return is more than a political comeback. It is a call to purposeful leadership, innovation, and a promise of responsive governance.
Fluent in both English and Yoruba, Hon. Babafemi Adewale is admired for his credibility, leadership acumen, and unshakable dedication to public service.
Indeed, Basco is back and the future of Ikeja looks brighter. http://skynewslink.com
