Benue Education Commissioner Commends FGN Over Model Smart School Project In Makurdi

Benue State Commissioner of Education, Dr Saawuan Tarnongo, has commended the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN)/ Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) for executing Model Smart School project in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, for the benefit of people of the State.

Dr Tarnongo who gave the nod Monday when the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Comrade Joseph Utse, conducted him round the FGN/UBEC Model Smart School project located along Naka Road at Adaka in Makurdi also applauded the contractors, Kingston Pet Ventures Ltd, for doing a quality job and for completing the project on time.

The Commissioner expressed gratitude to the Ter Makurdi, HRH Vincent Aule, and the District Head of the area for providing security to protect the project after the exit of the contractors and encouraged members of the host community to continue to guard the school jealously.

He announced that Smart School will be commissioned by Governor Samuel Ortom as soon as furnishing is completed and all necessary equipment are supplied and installed.

In his remarks, the SUBEB Chairman, Comrade Joseph Utse, who presented to the Honourable Commissioner, a full list of the equipment availed him at a meeting in Abuja for the school said, an electrical transformer was already installed and a generator mounted to electrify the whole institution. Other equipment supplied so far according to Comrade Utse include tables, seats, mattresses , shelves and tablets.

Apart from the equipment supplied and mounted as stated above, more equipment and instructional materials are being expected from the UBEC headquarters, Abuja as indicated on the list presented to the Commissioner by the SUBEB Chairman.
