Bishop Anagbe’s 10th Episcopal, 30th Priestly Anniversaries: VP Hails Transformational Leadership
As the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi celebrates Bishop Wilfred Anagbe’s 10th episcopal and 30th priestly anniversaries, the Vice Principal Academic of St. Joseph’s Science and Technical College, Makurdi, Mr Hwande Terhemen Thomas, has congratulated the bishop on his remarkable milestones.
In an exclusive interview on Wednesday, Thomas highlighted the college’s history, established in 1971 as a trade center by Father Harvey. According to the VP, the institution has evolved into a full-fledged technical college offering various programs, including carpentry, engineering, welding, motor mechanics, building construction, plumbing, and garment making.
Thomas attributed the college’s growth to Bishop Anagbe’s visionary leadership. “He has expressed interest in the school, wanting it to operate like an industry. He appointed Reverend Father Moses Iorshamber to manage the school and recently collaborated with the Marist brothers to upgrade infrastructure and academics.”
Despite challenges such as location, lack of boarding facilities, and limited land, Thomas praised the staff’s dedication, saying, “they work tirelessly, considering the economic situation. We encourage them to view the students as their own children.”
The VP extended heartfelt congratulations to Bishop Anagbe, acknowledging his transformative impact on the diocese, particularly in education. “We celebrate with him, wishing more years of fruitful service to humanity and God.”
The anniversary celebrations coincide with the diocese’s renewed focus on education and development, underscoring Bishop Anagbe’s commitment to empowering future generations.
