Bishop Anagbe’s Double Anniversary: MSG Principal Urges Leaders To Prioritize Viable Educational Policies

In celebration of Bishop Wilfred Anagbe’s 30th year in the priesthood and his 10th year as bishop, Rev. Fr James Utav, the Principal of Mount St. Gabriel Secondary School, Makurdi, has commended the bishop’s positive influence on the school.

Speaking with journalists his office on Wednesday, Fr Utav said, “Bishop Anagbe is like a father to Mount St. Gabriel’s. Since he took on the role of bishop, his contributions to the school have been remarkable. We have numerous projects underway, such as a new dormitory, a football pitch, a basketball court, and upgraded restroom facilities. His dedication to the school is evident.”

According to Fr Utav, under Bishop Anagbe’s leadership, Mount St. Gabriel’s has upheld its standing as a leading institution in both state and national educational circles, achieving numerous accolades, including recent successes in regional and international contests.

Despite the school’s achievements, Father Utav expressed concerns regarding the current state of education in Nigeria. “Education standards are declining. Children now depend heavily on the internet and have lost the habit of reading. It’s essential for leaders, parents, and educators to collaborate in bolstering the quality of education.”

He called on leaders to prioritize educational policies, parents to actively support their children’s learning, and teachers to continue giving their best despite the hurdles they face.

“Nigeria has the potential to improve if we each commit to nurturing our children,” Utav emphasized.

As Bishop Anagbe celebrates these significant anniversaries, Mount St. Gabriel’s Secondary School stands as a testament to his dedication to high-quality education and his role in shaping future generations.
