Catholic priest among those kidnapped in Kaduna communities – Diocese

Reverend Father Felix Zakari of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Zango Tama parish, Giwa local government area of Kaduna State was among the 50 people kidnapped by bandits.

Bandits had in the early hours of Friday raided villages, among them, Zango Tama where over 50 people were killed and about 100 abducted. The Catholic Church was also razed by the bandits.

The nine villages affected during the attack by the bandits are Dillalai, Zango Tama, Kaya, Barebari, Anguwan Bakko, Gidan Alhajin Kida, Kadanya and Durumi, among others.

In a statement by Patrick Adikwu Odeh, the Chancellor, Catholic Diocese of Zaria, called on the Church to pray for the safe release of the kidnapped priest.

“We regret to officially announce and confirm the abduction of one of our Priests, Rev. Fr. Felix Zakari Fidson shortly after he left his residence at St Ann’s Zango Tama on his way to the diocesan headquarters on Thursday,” the statement explained.

The statement prayed for the safe return of Father Felix Zakari Fidson and others through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Jesus.

It called on all men and women of goodwill to pray for the safe release of Rr. Felix Zakari Fidson and others from the hands of their abductors on this day of the solemnity of the annunciation
