The Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Integrity Watch, CeFTIW, has demanded transparency and accountability in the constitution and implementation of probe panel reports.

CeFTIW expressed concern over the abuse of constitutional processes in which cases of probe panels are constituted and abandoned halfway.

The centre also lamented the non-implementation of probe committees’ reports.

Victor Agi, the CeFTIW’s head, Public Affairs, said the non-implementation of probe reports weakens the country’s democracy.

In a statement he signed, Agi pointed out that Nigerians are left in the dark over the outcome of such probes.

According to Agi: “One of the oversight functions performed by the three arms of government is the constitution of probe panels to check, investigate and scrutinize the actions and inactions of government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and public office holders. These probes are often also constituted to ensure that laws are adequately implemented, curb the abuse of power and prevent public sector corruption
