The Director General of the Benue State Public Procurement Commission (BPPC), Engr. Comfort Adadu, has conducted a due diligence visit to the Ministry of Energy, Science & Technology to assess the progress of the ongoing office renovation.
During the inspection, Adadu commended the level of work done so far but emphasized the need for further improvements, particularly in the electrical fittings. She also highlighted the need for new doors on the upper floor and raised concerns about the absence of water in the ministry, despite the presence of a water board pipeline.

Addressing the issue of the unreplaced roof, the contractor, Ifafex Engineering Nigeria Limited, explained that the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) did not make provision for a roof replacement. However, they confirmed that termite-damaged wooden structures had been replaced.
According to BPPC’s information officer, Mngohol Sylvia Ageda, the DG urged the contractor to take up a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by providing water to the premises and ensuring that debris is cleared before the rainy season begins. In response, the contractor assured her that all necessary materials were available to complete the project.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Helen Nyikyaa, appreciated the renovation efforts but expressed concern over the slow pace of work.
The BPPC DG’s visit demonstrated the commission’s commitment to ensuring value for money in public procurement. Through regular due diligence inspections, the commission upholds transparency, accountability, and quality assurance in government projects.
