Gov. Abiodun Presents Staff Of Office To Onilisa Of Lisa, Oba Najeem Odugbemi

In a historic ceremony held Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Ifo Lisa, Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun officially presented the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to His Royal Majesty, Oba Najeem Oladele Ayinla Odugbemi, Ali-Odu I, the Onilisa of Lisa.

The event, attended by dignitaries, traditional rulers, and residents, marked the formal recognition of Oba Odugbemi’s leadership. Representing the governor, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs highlighted the vital role of traditional institutions in preserving cultural heritage and driving community development. Also present was the Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Hon. Olamilakan Kushimo.

Oba Odugbemi’s journey to the throne began on July 16, 2006, when he was installed as Baale of Lisa by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo. His dedication to the progress of Lisa led to his elevation to Oba in 2019, following his remarkable efforts in transforming the once-rural village into a thriving urban center.

Under his leadership, Lisa has witnessed significant development, including the establishment of markets, healthcare facilities, schools, scholarships , empowerments, and security posts, greatly improving the quality of life for residents.

Lisa gained national attention after the tragic Bellview Flight 210 crash on October 22, 2005, which claimed 117 lives. In response, Oba Odugbemi spearheaded the construction of a memorial arcade to honor the victims. He has since championed infrastructural improvements, particularly the reconstruction of the Ijoko-Lisa road, to enhance accessibility and spur local development.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Odugbemi expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun and pledged to continue his efforts in advancing Lisa’s socio-economic growth. He called on both federal and state governments to support key infrastructural projects that would further elevate the community.
