Gov Fintiri signs bill creating 83 districts in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has signed into law a bill creating 83 new districts.
The bill, now a fully enacted law, repeals the old relevant law, bringing into existence the new order and greatly enlarging the state’s traditional leadership profile.
The move for the new order was driven by community demands after a public request was enthusiastically subscribed to by citizens across the 21 local government areas of the state.
During the signing ceremony held in his office at the Government House in Yola on Thursday, Governor Fintiri expressed the hope that the creation of additional districts would lead to a reduction in criminal activities.
The Governor announced, however, that the salaries of district heads and their staff will henceforth be paid by their respective local government councils.
Assuring, nonetheless, that such salaries would be reviewed from time to time to reflect emerging realities, Governor Fintiri reiterated the state government’s commitment to responding to the needs of its citizens
