Harvest of Blessings: Dr. Fabian Hian Celebrates Achievements, Receives Accolades

Dr. Fabian Terkula Hian, Treasurer of Ushongo Local Government Council, marked a significant milestone in his life with a grand thanksgiving service at the St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Makurdi on Sunday. The event celebrated his appointment by Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, his recent attainment of a Doctorate Degree in Business Management from Benue State University (BSU), and the academic success of his daughter, Miss Fabian Doowuese-Ter Hian, who graduated with a B.Sc. from the University of Mkar, Benue State.

Delivering the sermon, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Adam urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith despite life’s challenges, assuring them that perseverance leads to triumph. Using Dr. Hian as an example, he highlighted how resilience and faith have guided him to professional and personal success.
During a reception held at the Pastoral Center, Dr. Hian expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Governor Alia for entrusting him with the role of Treasurer. He pledged to dedicate himself to serving society with distinction.
“No one is born solely for themselves. Life is about giving back to the society that nurtures us,” Dr. Hian remarked. “Having come this far, I am committed to contributing positively to society, supporting those less privileged, and aligning with the governor’s vision of hope for our people.”
Prof. Kelvin Alom, Chairman of the occasion, delivered a moving speech celebrating Dr. Hian’s achievements.

“Today, we gather to honor a man whose perseverance and dedication have led him to remarkable accomplishments. Dr. Fabian Hian’s academic journey, crowned with a Ph.D., is a testament to his resilience,” Prof. Alom said. He also acknowledged the support of Dr. Hian’s family, particularly his wife, whose relentless encouragement contributed significantly to his success.
Chief Simon Ajoh, the Mue Ter Ihyarev, conveyed his good wishes for Dr. Hian’s continued success and elevation in service. Similarly, Dr. Hian’s lecturers and former classmates, including Prof. Avanenge Faajir and Hemen Ateror, lauded his dedication, vibrancy, and generosity in separate goodwill messages.
A citation read during the reception highlighted Dr. Hian’s exemplary academic and professional journey. Born in Matoho Magwen, Makurdi Local Government Area, Dr. Hian has pursued education relentlessly, earning numerous qualifications:

Dr. Hian’s public service career, particularly in the Benue State Local Government Service Commission, culminated in his appointment as Treasurer and Director of Finance by Governor Alia. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants (FICMC), a member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), and a Chartered Certified Forensic Accountant of Nigeria (CCrFA).
In addition to his professional roles, Dr. Hian is actively involved in community service, holding leadership positions in organizations like the International Association of Lions Clubs and the National Open University of Nigeria Alumni Association.
