Hon. Francis Chima Joins Labour Party, Strengthening Its Influence In Lagos

On March 28, 2025, the Lagos State Chapter of the Labour Party held a town hall meeting at Abayomi Hall, Awodi Ora, Ajegunle, Apapa, Lagos, officially welcoming Hon. Francis Bartholomew Omowale Chima, popularly known as Omo Barca, into the party.

The event was graced by key figures, including Labour Party National Chairman Barrister Julius Abure, Lagos State Chairman Pastor Dr. Dayo Ekong, and the 2023 Governorship Candidate Arch. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, along with other national and state executives.

In his address, Barrister Abure emphasized the importance of commitment to the party’s ideology, unity, and reconciliation to strengthen its structure at both the state and grassroots levels.

Hon. Chima, a well-known political figure in Lagos, was previously affiliated with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), where he was presented with the PDP’s Certificate of Return as the House of Representatives candidate for Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency in August 2024. His defection to the Labour Party marks a significant political shift and is expected to bolster the party’s growing presence in Lagos.

Addressing party members, Hon. Chima expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed his dedication to grassroots development in Ajegunle. He urged party members to work collectively to achieve the Labour Party’s vision for a progressive Lagos.

The town hall meeting provided an avenue for constructive discussions on the party’s future, culminating in a renewed call for solidarity and a shared commitment to driving positive change in the state.
