Amid the attacks on the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, a coalition of civil society groups, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to sack all the Service Chiefs and the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno.
This was as the coalition under the aegis of Civil Society for Security Reform and Governance, urged Buhari to purge the cabals in his government working against the security reforms in the country.
They pointed out that the cabals are working against security reforms due to their selfish interests.
In a statement the coalition said the president may fail to bequeath a secured country unless he purges his administration of these saboteurs.
The statement was signed by the coalition’s national coordinator, Dr Mohammed Gidado and national secretary, Dr Mrs Funke Egbagbe.
The civil society group said the attacks on INEC offices had made restructuring of the nation’s security architecture not only imperative but also urgent.
According to the group, the frequent attacks on INEC offices and kidnapping of innocent citizens is reflection of failed security architecture.
The statement reads: “We call on President Muhammad Buhari to immediately purge himself of the influence of the cabals who are against security architecture reforms in the country so that they country can move forward before the 2023 general elections
