Let’s support one another – CAN reacts to food stampede deaths

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has said it is disturbed by the stampede at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama on Saturday morning.
DAILY POST reports that at least ten people, including children, lost their lives in a stampede which occurred during a palliatives sharing event organized by the church.
According to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command, about ten dead bodies were recovered after the incident. Several persons were also hospitalized.
Also, not less than 20 residents of the Okija community in Anambra State died in a stampede that occurred during an event organized for the distribution of rice.
Reacting particularly to the Abuja incident, CAN said the tragedy is not just statistics but represents real families who are hurting.
