“Local Author Documents Lagos State’s Cultural Legacy with New Book”

 

In a bid to safeguard and uphold the rich cultural heritage of Lagos State residents, Dr. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has introduced a significant literary contribution titled: “Customs and tradition of people of Lagos State.”

Addressing attendees at the book unveiling ceremony held at the Airport Hotel, Lagos, the former deputy governor of the state, Dr. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, praised Dr. Taye Oyefolu, a Principal Assistant Registrar at the Lagos State University of Education, for meticulously documenting the historical narrative of Lagos State inhabitants.

Representing Dr. Orelope-Adefulire at the gathering, Otunba ‘Ladi Oluwaloni, Vice Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA), emphasized the importance of preserving authentic historical records to prevent distortion of facts.

Echoing similar sentiments, Dr. Orelope-Adefulire highlighted the imperative for Africans to reclaim the narrative of their history, countering misrepresentations propagated by foreign authors.
In addition, Cornelius Ojelabi, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, lauded Dr. Oyefolu’s dedication to capturing pivotal aspects of Lagos’ history, urging Lagosians to actively endorse and champion such endeavors to safeguard their cultural identity.

The event was graced by esteemed personalities including former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Princess Sarah Sosan; Chief Rabiu Oluwa, leader of the Lagos-West Senatorial District; Commissioner for Basic and Tertiary Education, Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun; and traditional rulers from Iba, Akesan, Badagry, and Ojo, underscoring the collective commitment to preserving Lagos’ rich cultural legacy. http://skynewslink.com
