Man arraigned for threatening mother’s life

The Police on Wednesday arraigned a 26-year-old man, Adesoji Babatunde, in an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly threatening his mother’s life.

The prosecutor, ASP Emmanuel Abdullahi, informed the court that the defendant committed the offence in the Ita-Osa area, Ile-Ife, on Tuesday at about 4.00 p.m.

Abdullahi alleged that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breakdown of law and order.

He said the defendant allegedly threatened the life of the complainant, one Madam Jolaade Awotoye, with a bottle for refusing to give him money.

According to him, the offence contravened Sections 86 and 249 (d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun 2002.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of breach of peace and threat to life.

The defence counsel, Mr Adeleke Dada, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms, promising he would not jump bail
