The Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), Benue State, has joined the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. The campaign, themed “UNiTE to End Violence Against Women and Girls,” runs from November 25 to December 10, 2024, and aims to address the pressing issue of violence and discrimination against women and girls.
Benue State Coordinator of SARC, Linda Ene Dirisu, emphasized the need for collective action to challenge harmful social norms, strengthen preventive measures, and provide unwavering support for survivors of sexual assault. She called on governments, civil society, communities, and individuals to work collaboratively towards creating a society free from gender-based violence.
“This campaign is a clarion call for everyone to unite and invest in preventing violence against women and girls,” Dirisu said. “Together, we can create a safer world where sexual violence and discrimination are eradicated.”

SARC continues to play a pivotal role in supporting survivors and advocating for policy changes to protect vulnerable groups in Benue State and beyond.
The campaign encourages public participation, urging communities to stand in solidarity against gender-based violence.
