UBEC Okays National Personnel Audit In Benue

The Universal Basic Commission, UBEC, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing National Personnel Audit (NPA) exercise in Benue State.

Representative of the Commission, Dr Mrs Ene Adikwu, made the remark Tuesday when she visited some schools in Makurdi metropolis for monitoring.

by UBEC State Coordinator, Mr Bala Emmanuel, NPA Team Lead, Mr Paul Agi and management of the State Universal Education Board (SUBEB), visited Wonderland Redeemers Nursery and Primary School, Heritage Kingdom Model Nursery and Primary School, Air Force Nursery and Primary School as well as Lady Victoria Academy, all in Makurdi the Benue State Capital.

The UBEC Director of Special Programmes while highlighting the importance of data collection for schools said, it will be used by development partners like the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to assist schools in areas that need intervention. According to her, private schools were not included in the NPA Programme in 2018 but UBEC has included them this year to be able to access the benefits.

She appreciated State Ministry of Education, MOE, National Association of Private Proprietors, NAPPs Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, SUBEB and the Head Teachers for their understanding and cooperation in the interest of the Benue Child.

Also speaking, Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Comrade Joseph Utse, attributed the success of the NPA in Benue State to collaborative efforts of NAPPS, MOE, CAN, SUBEB, UBEC and Governor Samuel Ortom. He sued for sustained cooperation to improve Basic Education in the State.

SUBEB Secretary, Agbo Ochekpe, and Permanent Member 3 of the Board, Mr James Ahua, in separate comments tasked school administrators on accurate data that facilitate educational planning and intervention programmes from development partners.

In their various responses Head Teachers of the schools visited: Godwill Egbon of Heritage Kingdom Model Nursery and Primary School, Amashegh Emmanuel of Lady Victoria Academy, Omale Agada of Wonderland Redeemers Nursery and Primary School and Abahi Lucy of Air Force Nursery and Primary School, all appreciated the monitoring team and expressed optimism that the data collected will attract positive development to their schools.

UBEC is currying out 2022 National Personnel Audit ( NPA) of all Public and Private Basic Education institutions in the country to generate data for eyffective educational planning.

The programe involves visiting Basic Education schools to collect data on school enrollment, personnel, infrastructure and other relevant information. The exercise started in the Southern States and is now ongoing in Benue State.
