Catholic Priest identified as Reverend Father Ngugban Fanen was killed by unknown Gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday during an attack on Saint Paul’s Catholic Church at Aye-Twar village, Agu centre in Kastina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
Sources close to the area told Sky Paper Correspondent in Makurdi the Benue State capital that other people numbering about 27 were also killed during the attack.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Benue State Command, DSP Catherine Sewuese Anene who confirmed the incident to newsmen did not mention other persons’ death as she only talked about Fr Ngugban.
The PPRO said the Corpse of the murdered Catholic Cleric has been deposited at General Hospital Kastsina-Ala “while a joint operation of Police and other security agencies are on the trail of the hoodlums”
She also clarified that “the priest was attacked in his parish house not during church service.…” as alleged.
