Women Affairs Commissioner, Stakeholders Strategize To Combat SGBV In Benue

In a bid to strengthen the fight against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Benue State, stakeholders under the coordination of Linda Ene Dirisu, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Ann Itodo.
The visit which centered on strategizing effective approaches to tackle the pressing issue according to Dirisu, underscored the urgent need for collective efforts to safeguard the rights and well-being of women and vulnerable groups in the state.
During the meeting, discussions focused on identifying key challenges hindering the fight against SGBV and exploring sustainable solutions. The stakeholders emphasized the importance of enhancing awareness campaigns, improving access to justice for survivors, and bolstering support services such as counseling and safe shelters.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing SGBV, making efforts to implement policies and programs that prioritize the safety and empowerment of women. She called for stronger partnerships between government agencies, civil society organizations, and community leaders to ensure a holistic approach to tackling the menace.
The courtesy visit concluded with a renewed resolve to intensify collaborative efforts and create a safer, more inclusive environment for all residents of Benue State.
