Benue State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, has directed all public primary schools with huge population to divide the classes into two sessions in line with COVID-19 protocol.

According to SUBEB Head of Information and Protocol Mrs Erdoo Sar, the Executive Chairman of the Board, Mr Joseph Utse gave the directive on Monday 19th October, 2020 when he led other management Staff on an assessment tour to NKST Primary school Wadata, makurdi. He said the directive became necessary because COVID-19 is not over yet and the Board would not want any of its Teachers or pupils to contract the disease as a result of negligence.

He urged Teachers to ensure that preventive guidelines are complied with for the safety of both pupils and Staff.

Comrade Utse who reiterated the commitment of Governor Samuel Ortom in transforming the fortunes of Basic Education in the State promised to renovate structures at the school to address the infrastructural decay the school was facing.

Permanent Member 1 at the Board, Hon. Mike Kusah while addressing Teachers about the delay in the payment of their last month salary said it was as a result of administrative challenges due to the change in Leadership at the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs where Funds for Teachers’ salary come from. He stated however that all the issues have been sorted out and assured that all salaries would be paid this week.

Hon. Kusah sued for patience from Teachers, noting that with the assurance the Board has received from the Bureau, such will not repeat in subsequent months.

On his part , Permanent Member 2, Hon. Egli Ahubi who spoke on the issue of promotion and other entitlements as well as salary arrears said, all the issues associated with promotion have been tackled and that it would come very soon. He also assured them that arrears of their salary would soon be a thing of the past.
