Benue SUBEB Strengthens Synergy With ICPC For Zero Corruption

The Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Comrade Joseph Utse, has promised sustained partnership and cooperation with the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to quell corruption in public service particularly at the Board under his purview.

Comrade Utse, gave this assurance on Tuesday, 6th September, 2022 when he received members of the ICPC on a solidarity visit at the Board headquarters, Makurdi.

The Executive Chairman reiterated that he has zero tolerance for corruption, saying Governor Samuel Ortom has at numerous times warned Benue public officeholders against corrupt acts and that has encouraged him to discharge his duties without recourse for corruption.

He commended the commissioner for asking the Board to segment the staff so that he will come and educate them, attesting that most of the things people take for granted in public offices making them face anti- corruption agencies is as a result of ignorance and therefore their interaction with the staff of the Board was of great importance.

Also speaking, Anti-corruption Resident Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner Menge Andrew Tiku, expressed gratitude for a warm reception received from the Board while calling for collaboration and synergy so as to help fight corruption.

He stated that as a new commissioner recently deployed to the state, he was willing to offer the Board an opportunity where a day will be set aside for his team to come and give enlightenment to staff.

In his remarks, SUBEB Permanent Member 1, Mr Mike Kusah while appreciating the robust relationship Benue SUBEB had with the outgone commissioner urged Mr Tiku to follow the footsteps of his predecessor.
