Ushongo LG Chairman, Asawa Appoints Benue Ex-Education Commissioner As Council Secretary

The Executive Chairman, Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue state, Hon Joseph Asawa has appointed a former Commissioner of Education in the state, Hon. Shaapera Naako as Council Secretary.

Hon. Asawa, a renowned journalist who broke this news to his media colleagues yesterday at Government House Makurdi while briefing them on the journey so far shortly after a state security meeting said, his decision to appoint the former Commissioner as Local Government Secretary was due his vast experience and impeccable record.

The former Council Secretary and former Adviser to an Ex-Ushongo Chairman, Asawa said he was in the process of forming his Council and was already done with the Legislature and at the level of the Executive, he had appointed a Secretary and by Thursday this week, he will meet with the stakeholders in the Local Government to come up with a formidable team that will pilot the affairs of Ushongo for the next two years.

As a veteran journalist who has worked with many media organizations, Asawa called on his colleagues to support him to succeed because according him, if he fails, they have failed and if he succeeds, they have succeeded.

Steve Ayua are the only people who have the key for journalists to be in politics. “We are going there to either destroy or mar you. So it is your duty to protect and advise us on how we can excel. If we mess up, any of you who opt to dive into politics will be condemned because We are your pacesetters. “We are ready to listen to you and we are happy that we are coming from a background that is well prepared,” Asawa said.
